Turn your sketches into 3D computer-generated models. Our team of CAD modelers and graphic artists have years of experience bringing product concepts to life. We deliver high-quality photorealistic images for marketing, fundraising, and concept testing.
Who are all the stakeholders in your product? Plastimold Products can help you identify and bring together requirements from key perspectives: customers, design engineers, manufacturing, supply chain and fulfillment. Make sure your product meets your target market in the most efficient way possible.
Before bringing a product to market it’s critical to understand the intellectual property surrounding the technology used to create it. Plastimold can help you perform prior art searches to ensure your product will not infringe on existing IP and provide suggestions on which aspects of your product concept should be patented.
Do you know what the best technologies are to make your product concept a reality? Plastimold has experience with many state-of-the-art technologies in a variety of areas. Our strengths include mechanical design, mold making, manufacturing, digital and analog electronics, wireless networking, IoT, firmware, cloud services, and web and mobile applications. We can help you find the right technologies to bring you to market fast and provide the best experience for your customers.
Every product development project carries risks. As an organization dedicated to taking products from concept to market, we know where issues are most likely to come up and how best to avoid them. We can advise you on which aspects of your product design carry risks related to the engineering design, supply chain, manufacturing, fulfillment, and ongoing support. Know where your challenges are from the beginning so you can plan for them and mitigate before they can threaten your entire project.
Our team uses the latest design and analysis software. We analyze each component to engineer a high performing design while managing project cost. Using state of the art 3D printers and scanners, we have the ability to rapidly validate new and reverse engineered designs. Materials selected for product specifications are based on durability, weight, cost, and safety. The Plastimold team of engineers includes some of the most creative, technically sound, commercially aware individuals in the business.
Plastimold provides full PCB schematic capture and layout services. Our engineers are experts in analog and digital electronics, power systems, long-life battery, RF, interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, USB, I2S and CAN, LED lighting, cellular and other wireless networking modules, microcontrollers and microprocessors, RAM, flash, SD and sensors.
The software development team at Plastimold designs software for your product from end to end: firmware, cloud services, database systems, web applications, mobile applications, and manufacture and QA test systems. We use modern and proven technologies such as AWS IoT, Python/Django, React and React Native. We’ve built firmware for MCUs from many popular vendors including TI, Atmel/Microchip, STMicro, Nordic and Espressif and worked with module makers Quectel, Ublox, and Telit.
Designing your product for manufacturing from the beginning will assure quality and save you time and money. As an end to end development company, we review every aspect of the project from the smallest PCB component to the plastic enclosure. We have years of experience designing products in such a way that they are easy to manufacture. Plastimold provides a detailed, actionable, DFM report outlining suggestions to streamline the project.
Prototyping and demos
Plastimold’s prototyping services include CNC and 3D printed mechanics, PCB samples, and assembly for testing and short run production. Throughout the design process, Plastimold will produce prototypes for engineering validation. We also can produce a full working model for use at trade shows or demonstrations. Rapid prototyping gives the crucial feedback you need to confirm and complete the product design process.
Design verification and quality assurance
Testing design concepts minimizes risk. The goal is to expose areas of concern such as temperature, stress, and interference between moving parts, to eliminate failure.
After the 3D model of your design is complete we sit down with you to review results. Depending on your product's complexity this may involve hundreds of parts and many decisions that impact the product. Identifying these decisions upfront, allow us to find a solution and move into volume production.
At Plastimold, we incorporate innovative mold solutions that allow us to build prototype and production tools in less time than the industry average. We use the highest quality mold components from industry-leading suppliers. By using advanced software, we can detect any problems that will occur during the injection stage, and our engineers can make necessary adjustments to the tooling design, to eliminate any potential problems.
Our experienced team members understand the complexity of supply-chain risks. Some common drivers we review are possible supply disruptions, delays, supplier capacity, systems integration, and accurate forecasted lead times. We will develop an effective risk reduction strategy and manage the entire process.
Automated testing, fixtures, and quality control
Plastimold is an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality manufacturing facility but goes above and beyond those requirements. We develop PCB test fixtures and custom software to validate critical functionality. Our Part to CAD 3D scanning capabilities allows us to compare manufactured parts against their original CAD designs. We can then quickly identify part deviations and generate reports that are shared with team members.
Compliance and certification
Over the past couple of decades, we have completed hundreds of projects. Many of which need product certification. Plastimold will manage the entire process. We work with testing facilities around the globe and have experience UL, CE, FDA, FCC, Cellular carrier certification (Verizon, Sprint, PTCRB), ETL, and more. Plastimold is an ISO9001 certified company and registered with organizations such as ITAR, Made in the USA, Society of Plastic Engineers, and the South Florida Manufacturing Association.
From the start of your project, we will complete a contract review outlining each input and output. We then develop a detailed design project plan. Any changes will require authorization and appropriate documentation. Production process specs include equipment specs, methods, procedures, and manufacturing environment. Our detailed documentation process is one of the main reasons for the success of our company.
Shipping and logistics
Plastimold has developed relationships with all major domestic and interaction shipping companies. You can take advantage of our rates, or use your own shipping company. We can ship your product however you like. We often ship to distributors, warehouse facilities, Amazon, and other bulk scenarios. End-user fulfillment is also available. We integrate with Shopify, WordPress websites, eBay, Amazon, and many other online retailers. Connect via API through our shipping platform, Shipstation.
Defect support and process improvement
All products have issues that are slip through QA and reported by customers. Having procedures in place for capturing those issues and updating designs and manufacturing processes to correct them and critical. Plastimold can manage your RMAs, design modifications and rolling process improvements so you can focus on the core of your business.
New features and release management
No matter how thorough you are in collecting and executing your product requirements, market demands will shift. Unforeseen use cases will arise. You’ll need to update your product capabilities without introducing new design issues or manufacturing and fulfillment headaches in the process. Plastimold will add new features to your designs, update and execute QA test plans, and roll out new releases. We have experience with everything from over-the-air software releases to rolling process improvements on your manufacturing line.
Design iteration and cost reductions
Defect correction and adding new features will require design updates. You also need to keep an eye on your supply chain so you can identify new component crosses to reduce costs.
Finding new parts may require design changes, but will lower your BOM and improve your margins. Price reduction is part of the Plastimold mentality and reviewed daily. Our diligence will help you stay ahead of the competition by ensuring your product is quality and price optimized.
Component end-of-life (EOL) management
Products that are in production long enough may involve components that are no longer available. Suppliers often will replace them with updated designs. Sometimes they will exit the market altogether. Plastimold reviews BOMs on an ongoing basis identifying EOL components early. Adjustments are then made to the supply chain or product design to change to new components.
